Welcome to the Garden Seekers Project

We are delighted to announce the launch of the Garden Seekers Project at the Chelsea Fringe Festival.

The Garden Seekers Project is an installation of drawing, painting and digital film, celebrating the lure and intrigue of historical formal gardens. Highlighting the potential for wonder, delight and refuge- it explores the connection between art and gardens and their contribution to personal well-being.

Artist Jane Frederick will be opening the garden gate and offering you a peek into her new installation of large garden lens drawings inspired by Italian Renaissance gardens. The project debuts at Hamilton MAS the micro arts space by the sea, Felixstowe, where the larger than life drawings can be safely viewed through the gallery window space and experienced opposite the Heritage Seafront gardens.

Everyone can explore the project online at www.gardenseekersproject.co.uk (link at bottom of page)

You are invited to take Part…

We would like to celebrate your formal gardens and create an online, lock down Garden Seeking exhibition featuring your lovingly tended gardens.

Jane invites you to upload a photograph which captures how the ‘formal’ has inspired your own garden (indoors or out) or favourite local green space. It could be playfully clipped topiary, a neatly organised border or veg. patch, a coiffured knot garden or a creative display of your favourite potted plants on a window sill.

In June, she will curate an online exhibition of your formal garden moments and make a brand new drawing featuring her favourite formal bits from the exhibition - an imaginative new garden influenced by you.

To enter, send your photograph along with your name and garden location to info@janefrederick.net by May 24th. Log into the project website from July 1st to view the online exhibition and see the new drawings.

We look forward to seeing your entries.

This project is supported by Arts Council England & Firstsite Collector's Group.
