Introducing The Brixton Orchard - Mini Tour & Gardening session
Discover The Brixton Orchard - with a mini tour and intro to this community project which aims to encourage more people to interact with and learn about the natural world on their doorstep - even in the unlikeliest of places, at one of London’s busiest junctions!
Join us to learn how to look after a community orchard. Maintaining this green oasis involves a range of tasks, suitable for a wide range of participants, offering the chance to learn new skills and knowledge in:
- Caring for fruit trees in a range of sizes including mulching and watering them (learn how to get fruit trees off to the best start)
- Caring for young edible hedgerow plants (learn about native British plants that provide food for humans and animals alike)
All welcome! Join us on weekly Thursday afternoons (1- 2:30pm)
The space is accessible via a hard footpath upon entry, with some walking across the orchard floor over uneven ground.
Families welcome, including children under supervision.
Keeping everyone safe is our top priority and we therefore ask all volunteers to agree to abide by our Community Volunteer Guidelines before coming onto site.
Please wear clothing appropriate for the weather and bring a drink. Please note that the sharing of food and drinks is not allowed and that there are no toilet facilities on site.
We will supply all tools required, but please bring your own gloves and face mask.
If rain is consistent and heavy we will call off that particular session and notify signups by email.
If you are having trouble booking; would like to discuss bringing a group; or for any other information please contact us at:
