Garden Surprises
Dunn Gardens will be hopping with artistic endeavors -- dancing, woodworking artists, Celtic musicians, and artisan beer. Pack a picnic and enjoy your visit:
A roaming performance directed by Joan Laage/Kogut Butoh will highlight the day, as performers engage in a minute-by-minute response to the sights and sounds of the natural environment. Guests will encounter the dancers in the most unexpected places as they roam the many paths of the gardens. Joan directs such annual events at the Seattle Japanese Garden and Kubota Garden. Known for its celebration of the body as nature, butoh is a performance genre born out of the turmoil of WWII Japan, which has had a global presence since the 1980s.
The Seattle Woodturners will engage guests with a lathe demonstration. Gorgeous wood items created from a Dunn sugar maple will be part of a silent auction.
Picnickers on The Great Lawn can relax to the soothing Celtic music of Third Harbour. There will also be docent-led mini tours and an assortment of local beer and wine for sale.
