Delft Botanical
Join one of our workshops on the 20th/21st May and learn how to create your own Delftware flowers. Paint your design onto a tin-glazed plate or tile in Spitalfields, where original Delft tiles still adorn some of the fireplaces in the early 18th century houses.
After an introduction learning about the history of Delft decoration and how it came to the potteries along the Thames, you will be able to create your own floral designs and practise them in watercolour on paper, before painting them on a plate or tile provided. Books on original Delftware will be available for inspiration alongside our collection of London Delftware fragments found on the Thames foreshore. Or bring your own material to use if you already have something you’d like to use.
All materials and firings provided, work created will be available for collection from the Tuesday after the workshop.
Ticket information: £50 for the workshop, materials included
