Poems from the heart of the urban forest
Poetry Reading: Southwark & Greenwich Poetry Stanza groups invite you to take a path into London, 'the world's largest urban forest'. According to the London Assembly website, ‘London's urban forest contains an estimated 8.4 million trees and covers around 21% of the city's land area’. Trees are our friends and neighbours, we are all part of the forest, communicating through our roots and the reach of a vast canopy.
Come down to hear poems celebrating life within the forest, poems about growth and regeneration in this urban woodland. In Red Cross Gardens, SE1, we’ll be sharing poetry and inviting you to take part by sending your own poetic message to the trees around us.
