Be a Poet
We are a weekend gardening club in Kumamoto-shi, Japan and our gardening sites are pedestrian flower beds (total length of 500m, area is 360sqm). We are trying to introduce perennial and naturalistic approaches where there used to be either hedges or neglected space.
Taking this opportunity to participate in the Chelsea Fringe, we are trying something in addition to looking after plants. This is the first one of the series of five events planned, and we will encourage members to make a short poem about our street garden and plants.
The very short and comical poem style is called 'Higo-Kyoku' - they send it to our internal SNS and we'll select special ones. The selected poems are presented together with the images of our street gardening site and submitted to the Chelsea Fringe social media pages and our own Instagram.
